The Gees Bend Ferry reopened in 2006, marking the first time since the 1960s that a ferry had been in operation there. This historical reopening was, and is, viewed as another positive step in the Civil Rights movement and voting rights. The ferry is under HMSGM contract until 2015.

This significant project is another public/private partnership with the ALDOT. HMSGM provides turnkey project management for this operation in Camden/Gees Bend, Alabama. Our team managed construction, certification and delivery of the vessel, and we currently provide operational management, crewing and maintenance on behalf of the state and county.
